This qualification is designed to support current or new staff who work in the hospitality industry needing to develop their underpinning knowledge of how to prevent and control the spread of infection in their workplace

In spite of the medical, scientific and technological advances of the past few decades, the spread of infectious diseases is still an incredibly important issue and one which ultimately causes countless health problems and, in severe cases, death. Controlling the spread of infection is vital in a wide variety of workplaces including hospitals, care homes, schools and nurseries; in fact anywhere people live and work together. It is therefore important that staff operating in high-risk workplaces have some knowledge of the control of infection.

On successful completion of this qualification, learners may wish to continue their development by undertaking one of the following qualifications:

• Highfield Level 2 Award in Health and Safety within Health and Social Care Settings (RQF)
• Highfield Level 2 Award in Risk Assessment (RQF)
• Highfield Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF)
