This qualification is provided by Highfield Qualifications, an international awarding body that sets standards for training and certifications in various industries.

Eligibility:
Learners should meet the necessary standard of the language in which the course is delivered. Centres are responsible for ensuring the eligibility of learners. Additionally, learners are required to provide photographic identification before taking the exam.

Duration:

Guided Learning Hours (GLH): 6 hours

This qualification is provided by Highfield Qualifications, an international awarding body that sets standards for training and certifications in various industries.

The primary objective of this qualification is to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to produce safe food in compliance with food safety standards. Learners will:

  1. Understand their responsibility in food safety.
  2. Learn the importance of personal and workplace hygiene.
  3. Gain insight into effective pest control and waste disposal.

4. Acquire knowledge of handling and maintaining food safety throughout preparation, cooking, and storage.

Personal Responsibility in Food Safety:

      • Importance of food safety procedures.
      • Reporting food safety hazards.
      • Legal responsibilities of food handlers.

Hygiene Practices:

      • Role of personal hygiene in preventing contamination.
      • Effective practices (e.g., handwashing, protective clothing).

Maintaining Clean Work Areas:

      • Cleaning methods and safe use of chemicals.
      • Safe waste disposal and pest control.

Food Handling and Safety:

      • Risks from contamination and cross-contamination.
      • Safe food handling during storage, preparation, cooking, and transportation.
      • Dealing with food spoilage.

Upon completion, learners can:

  1. Gain employment in food-related industries where knowledge of food safety is a requirement.
  2. Progress to advanced qualifications such as:
    • Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering (RQF)
    • Highfield Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Manufacturing (RQF)
