COTHM Global UNWTO Membership Marks a Historic Milestone for Pakistan
A proud and historic moment for Pakistan — COTHM Global has officially earned the prestigious Affiliate Membership of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This remarkable achievement makes COTHM the first-ever Pakistani hospitality and tourism education institution to receive this global honor.
COTHM’s Global Recognition Announced at UNWTO General Assembly
The milestone was announced during the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
At the prestigious ceremony, COTHM Global Founder, President & CEO Ahmad Shafiq received the official UN Tourism Affiliate Membership Certificate, proudly representing Pakistan on the world stage.
He was joined by PTDC Managing Director Rana Aftab, signifying Pakistan’s growing collaboration and representation at international tourism platforms.
Strengthening Pakistan’s Global Identity in Tourism Education
This achievement not only uplifts COTHM Global’s international standing but also strengthens Pakistan’s global identity in tourism and hospitality education. As a newly inducted Affiliate Member, COTHM joins an elite network of nearly 500 global institutions, including around 124 top universities and research bodies that shape global tourism policies, innovation, and sustainable development.

The UNWTO membership opens worldwide pathways for COTHM students, faculty, and industry partners, giving them access to global research, learning, and collaboration opportunities.
